Signs of a Bad Alternator:
1 - If your car starts but stalls when you’re underway, your battery is probably not being recharged due to a faulty alternator.
2 - Another telltale is turning the AM radio to a low number on the dial without music, then revving the engine. If you hear a whine or the sound goes fuzzy when you hit the gas, your alternator is probably failing.
3 - If you have a check-engine or battery indicator light illuminated on your vehicle, it could indicate a problem with an automobile charging system, or if your vehicle gets a jump-start and immediately stops running, it could be an indication that the alternator is malfunctioning.

How long will an alternator last? - 7 years
Alternators have a lifespan of up to 7 years, or 80,000 to 150,000 miles.

Can I continue driving if my alternator is bad?
To some extent yes, but it depends on the severity of the problem. You can still drive your car if your alternator is running less efficiently; however, it's best to avoid doing this. If your car is equipped with electric power steering, it could be a safety hazard because you could lose all steering power.
