The number of connecting rods in an engine depends on the number of cylinders it has.

When should I replace the connecting rod?
If the recommended maintenance schedule and inspections are followed, especially changing the engine oil, the connecting rod bearings will have a service life of at least 300,000 kilometers.

How do I know if my connecting rod is bad?
1. Low engine compression. If one cylinder's compression results are much lower than the others, it may indicate a bent connecting rod.
2. The engine makes a knocking sound.
3. Low oil pressure. The pressure on the oil gauge on the instrument panel drops. The warning light will also illuminate when the pressure drops. Never drive your car with low oil pressure. If the oil pressure is low, it means the oil is not circulating properly through the engine. If the problem is not corrected soon, it can cause the engine to overheat and, due to the inability to lubricate it properly, can cause severe wear and tear on the engine.
4. Excessive oil consumption.
5. The connecting rod is obviously bent or damaged.
6. The engine is stuck.
7. Engine Overheating. If the connecting rod lubrication problem is severe enough, the excess heat generated may overwhelm the car's cooling system and cause overheating. If your temperature warning light comes on, or you see the temperature gauge reaching "H" or entering the red zone, turn off your car immediately and contact your mechanic.
