What is a fuel injection pump?
The injection pump is the device that pumps fuel into the cylinders of a diesel engine.

How do I know if my injector pump is bad?
1. The engine makes a hissing sound and the engine does not run smoothly.
2. Engine misfire. If the fuel pump cannot maintain a steady supply of fuel, the air-fuel ratio will be disturbed, causing the engine to misfire.
3. The engine is weak and cannot accelerate the car.
4. It is difficult to start or cannot start at all.
5. The exhaust emits black smoke. One of the most common symptoms of a bad diesel fuel pump is blue smoke coming from the exhaust.
6. Acceleration lag.
7. Reduced fuel efficiency.
9. The engine is overheated.

10. Check engine light. If your check engine light comes on, it could be a sign that your diesel fuel pump is malfunctioning.

Can I still drive if my fuel injection pump breaks?
Because a damaged fuel pump can cause an unexpected loss of power or even a complete vehicle stall, we do not recommend driving with knowledge of a damaged fuel pump.
