An automatic transfer switch (ATS) is a device that automatically transfers a power supply from its primary source to a backup source when it senses a failure or outage in the primary source.
Why choose Auto Transfer Switch at WDPART?
We offer various brands of ATS with high quality. The brands we offered are DeepSea and others.Alternative OEM and original parts available.
What are the two types of automatic transfer switches?
There are two types of automatic transfer switches: circuit breakers and contactors. The circuit breaker type has two interlocked breakers so only one can be closed at any time.
What happens if the ATS fails?
If this component fails, your generator won't even know it needs to start! This single point of failure is called an ATS or automatic transfer switch. The ATS monitors the utility's power, and when it detects a grid failure, it sends a start signal to your emergency generator.
1. Noise. If you can hear a "clicking" sound, debris is bouncing between the contacts of the ATS. Your ATS will still run, but... This is a sign that parts are wearing out and will need to be replaced within the next 12 months.
2. Smell. If you can smell a "burning" smell from the ATS, the terminal or terminals are burned out. Fires do happen. Business continuity issues need to be addressed. Replace it immediately as your ATS will not operate without replacement. Service and maintenance are important.
3. Buzz. Loose metal fragments inside the ATS can cause a "buzzing" sound. Have a local generator engineer isolate the ATS and remove any metal debris. Clean the ATS and safely cycle power.
4. The control panel crashes. Your ATS will not function without a visual operational control panel. If the control panel has no life and no image, please replace it with a new power control panel urgently.
